New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Monday gave Atlantic City casinos the green light to open with limited capacity for Fourth of July weekend.

“BREAKING: On Thursday, July 2nd: Casinos may reopen – operating at 25% capacity. Indoor dining may resume – limited at first to 25% capacity,” Murphy announced in a tweet.

“Additional health and safety guidance will be released within the next several days,” he added.

Casinos were the first businesses in the Garden State to go dark in mid-March because of guidelines intended to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

They were ordered closed on March 16 along with gyms, movie theaters and in-door dining.

Murphy’s casino announcement coincided with the state reopening salons, barber shops and massage and tattoo parlors.

New Jersey has had more than 169,000 coronavirus cases and more than 12,800 deaths.

But the number of cases is steadily declining.
